Retraining as a machine and plant operator

Machine and plant operators specializing in metal and plastics technology set up, commission, and operate production machines and systems. They also modify and maintain the machines.

The retraining program includes both theoretical and practical training and concludes with an examination before the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

Target group & requirements

• The retraining requirements of the respective beneficiaries must be met
• secondary school certificate
• technical understanding and professional experience
• good written and spoken German skills

Goals

Upon successful completion of the training, participants will be qualified to take up employment as machine and plant operators.

Content & Services

• Theoretical and practical instruction as well as vocational school instruction in the BWNW
• Placement in a 6-week internship
• Preparation for the final examination before the Chamber of Industry and Commerce [IHK]

• Occupational safety and accident prevention regulations
• Environmental protection
• Basic skills in metal and plastic processing
• Measuring and testing
• Get to know different production processes
• Planning and preparing workflows
• Setting up and operating machines and systems
• Wait and inspect
• operational and technical communication
• Control and regulation technology

Duration & Course

The retraining program lasts 16 months; the start date is determined by the final examination dates in June and December.

Financial support

The retraining is a further training measure approved under AZAV and can be funded through a training voucher from the employment agency or a job center.

Interested parties should therefore coordinate their entry into the retraining program with the relevant training provider.
