Retraining as an industrial mechanic

Due to their training, industrial mechanics are qualified for activities in the field of manufacturing and maintenance of machines and production systems.
Their tasks may include manufacturing, testing, commissioning, maintaining, inspecting, and repairing power machines, tools, and special-purpose machines, as well as linking them into systems. Industrial mechanics also manufacture assembly parts themselves if necessary.

The retraining program includes both theoretical and practical training and concludes with an examination before the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

Target group & requirements

  • The retraining requirements of the respective beneficiaries must be met
  • secondary school certificate
  • technical understanding and professional experience
  • good written and spoken German skills

Goals

Upon successful completion of the training, participants will be qualified to take up employment as industrial mechanics.

Content & Services

  • Theoretical and practical instruction as well as vocational school instruction in the BWNW
  • Placement in an 8-week internship
  • Preparation for the final examination before the Chamber of Industry and Commerce [IHK]

  • Differentiating, classifying and handling materials and auxiliary materials
  • Manufacturing of components and assemblies
  • Maintenance of equipment

  • Customer orientation
  • Manufacturing, assembling, disassembling components, assemblies and systems
  • Ensuring the operability of technical systems
  • Maintenance of technical systems
  • Construction, expansion and testing of electrical components of control technology
  • Business processes and quality management in the field

Duration & Course

The retraining program lasts 24 months. The start date depends on the final examination dates and is usually in early February or August, but in special cases, it can also be arranged individually.

Class times

Monday - Thursday 7:15 am to 4:15 pm
Friday 7:15 am to 3:00 pm

New start dates

February 1st of each year | July 1st of each year

Financial support

The retraining is a further training measure approved under AZAV and can be funded through a training voucher from the employment agency or a job center.

Interested parties should therefore coordinate their entry into the retraining program with the relevant training provider.
