Restart

"New Start" is a publicly funded qualification and activation program specifically designed for young people who are not reached by existing systems. It combines outreach social work, individual stabilization, skills development, career guidance, and follow-up support into a comprehensive approach. Through low-threshold access, individualized support, and the use of innovative methods such as digital tools, participatory formats, and practical experiences, sustainable learning and integration processes are facilitated. The goal is to provide holistic support for these young people, strengthen their motivation, and gradually integrate them into vocational training or employment.

Target audience

The target group consists of young people (15 to 27 years old) from the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district who are at risk of or affected by unemployment and who currently have an increased need for support due to individual problems. These include, among others:

  • Hard-to-reach young people who have so far rejected the offers of social service providers

  • Young people with experiences of exclusion or discrimination

  • Young people in financially difficult circumstances

  • Young people affected by homelessness

  • Young people with mental, health and cognitive impairments

  • long-term unemployed

Goals

The "Restart" project sets the following overarching goals:

  • to pick up the participants where they are.
  • Stabilization and individual support of young people

  • Strengthening self-confidence by promoting individual strengths and abilities
  • Development and strengthening of their employability

  • Creating viable social and professional prospects

  • Placement in training or further qualifying opportunities

  • Contribution to securing skilled workers in the region

  • Prevention of poverty risks and social exclusion

Content & Services

The offer includes:

  • Individual coaching to clarify strengths, interests and development potential.

  • Health promotion and resilience training in collaboration with professionals

  • Social work support for personal challenges

  • Career guidance and application training

  • Work placements to test and prepare for everyday work

  • Module offerings (e.g. media literacy, digitalization, communication)

  • Support with integration into education or work

Duration & Course

  • Standard term: 12 months

  • Entry is possible individually and continuously.

Neustart is funded by the European Union and by funds from the state of Hesse and the district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg.
